Smoke Pall of September 1950 Seventy-five years ago on September 24, 1950, the sky over much of the Great Lakes and Mid Atlantic regions went dark. Day turned to night. Many thought the world was ending, but the culprit was smoke from a large wildfire in Canada. Today I will dive into how the Smoke Pall of 1950 brought nighttime to the middle of the day here in Pennsylvania.
